Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why, and what your rights are. It applies to mitchelljackson.co.uk.

Who I am

This website is run by Mitch Jackson, a frontend developer based in Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom. I’m responsible for your personal information under UK data protection law. You can contact me about anything in this policy at me@mitchelljackson.co.uk.

What I collect and why

When you send a message

If you use the contact form, I collect your name, your email address, what you need help with (if you choose an option) and your message, along with the page you sent it from. If you email me directly, I receive your email address and whatever you include in your email.

I use this only to reply to you and, if we go on to work together, to discuss and carry out the work. The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

Messages sent with the form are emailed to me and also kept in this website’s admin area, which only I can access. I keep them for as long as I need to deal with your enquiry and any work that follows, then delete them.

With your consent, this website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it, such as which pages are viewed and how people arrive at the site. This helps me improve the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and Google processes this information on my behalf, which may involve transferring it outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.

Google Analytics only runs if you accept statistics cookies in the cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time using the “Manage consent” option on this site. The lawful basis is your consent. See the cookie policy for details of the cookies used.

Cookies

Apart from Google Analytics, the site sets a small cookie to remember your cookie choices, and remembers whether you chose light or dark mode in your browser’s own storage. Neither identifies you.

Server logs

Like most websites, the server that hosts this site keeps short-term technical logs, including IP addresses, to keep it secure and working properly.

Sharing your information

I don’t sell your personal information or share it with anyone for marketing. It’s only handled by the services needed to run this website, such as hosting, email and, with your consent, Google Analytics.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you, and to ask me to correct it, delete it or stop using it. Where I rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To make a request, email me@mitchelljackson.co.uk.

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please contact me first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
